We Read Five Crypto Casinos' Actual Bonus Terms. One Formula Makes Game Selection Mathematically Irrelevant.

Shuffle publishes a rollover formula that scales your progress by the house edge of the game you play. We worked it through: the expected cost of clearing the bonus is identical whether you play 4% slots or 1% originals — and negative at every possible match percentage. Every figure here is quoted from the operator's own documentation.

Every guide to casino bonuses, including ones we have written, tells you the same thing: clear the wagering requirement on a low house-edge game, because you lose less per dollar wagered.

We went and read what five crypto casinos actually publish. At the two with the biggest headline offers, that advice is worth nothing — and at one of them, we can prove it from a formula the operator publishes itself.

The formula

Shuffle’s help centre states how rollover progress is calculated:

Wager Amount × (Game Edge / 0.04) = Rollover Progress

Their own worked example: a $5 bet on dice, a 1% house-edge game, contributes $1.25 toward the rollover. Five dollars times 0.01/0.04 is 1.25. The formula does what it looks like it does.

The rollover itself is 35x the deposit plus bonus, with a $10 maximum bet while it is active.

Now put a $100 deposit and its $100 matched bonus through it. You need 35 × $200 = $7,000 of rollover progress.

The cost is the same number four times, and it is not a coincidence. Required turnover is 35(D+B) × 0.04/e and expected cost is that times e — the edge cancels. Expected cost = 0.04 × 35 × (deposit + bonus) = 1.4 × (deposit + bonus), for any game, at any edge.

Game selection is not a lever. It is arithmetic that has already been closed off.

The part that surprised us

If the cost is 1.4 × (deposit + bonus) and the bonus is a match of the deposit, then the bonus can never be worth taking on expectation. Write the match as m, so bonus = m × deposit:

Expected value = m·D − 1.4·D·(1 + m) = −D·(1.4 + 0.4m)

That is negative for every m ≥ 0, and it gets more negative as the match rises:

The headline number and the value move in opposite directions. A 360% match is not a better offer than a 50% match under these terms; it is a worse one, by $124.

This is not a simulation result and it does not depend on any assumption of ours. It follows from two figures the operator publishes: the multiplier and the progress formula.

BitStarz gets to the same place by a different route

BitStarz publishes no edge-scaling formula. It publishes 40x, applied to deposit plus bonus — its terms state that wagering with both the bonus money and your deposited cash counts.

On $100 + $100 that is $8,000 of weighted wagering. On slots at roughly 4%, about $320 in expected cost against a $100 bonus.

So take the low-edge route instead? The terms close it a different way: table games, live games, instant-win games, lotteries and bingo contribute about 5%. At 5% you need twenty times the turnover — $160,000 — and even at a 1% edge that is roughly $1,600 in expected cost. Five times worse than just playing the slots.

Two operators, two different mechanisms, the same outcome. Shuffle’s is explicit and checkable. BitStarz’s is the industry-standard weighting table. Neither leaves the low-edge route open.

Three more BitStarz figures worth having before you opt in:

  • Maximum bet while a bonus is active: 5 EUR/USD. At $8,000 of required wagering that is a minimum of 1,600 spins.
  • Welcome package bonuses are valid for 7 days. Other bonuses expire 24 hours after issuance.
  • The terms state a maximum payout of 100 EUR/USD “resulting from a bonus or free spins”, and do not carve the deposit match out of that sentence. Read it before assuming your upside is uncapped.

The offers with no rollover at all

Two of the five publish no rollover multiplier, because neither runs a deposit match:

  • Cloudbet — the welcome package is up to $2,500 in cash rewards over 30 days: 10% casino rakeback, daily cash drops, a weekly sports drop and a vault paid at day 30. The help centre page does not publish a rollover multiplier.
  • Stake — the welcome offer is rakeback at 3.5% of the house edge, which we worked through separately. At $100,000 wagered on a 1% edge that is about $35. No wagering multiplier is published.

Headline-wise these look far weaker than “100% up to $1,000”. In expected-value terms they are the only two of the five that cost nothing to accept. There is no locked deposit, no maximum bet rule, no 7-day clock, and no number you have to reach before your own money is yours again.

That is the actual trade, and it is the reverse of how the industry ranks these offers — including how affiliate sites rank them, ours included until we ran this.

BC.GAME: we could not verify anything

We attempted BC.GAME’s help centre repeatedly on 2026-08-08 and every request returned Cloudflare error 1014 (CNAME Cross-User Banned). Third-party sites quote figures between 40x and 45x on deposit plus bonus, and we are not going to repeat them, because we could not confirm them at the source and neither can you.

An operator whose bonus documentation is unreachable is a finding in itself. We will publish BC.GAME’s terms when its own pages serve them.

What to do with this

  1. Check whether the operator scales rollover by house edge. If it does, stop optimising game selection for bonus clearing — it cannot help. Shuffle publishes its formula, which is more than most do.
  2. Check the weighting table if it does not. A 5% contribution is an edge-scaling formula wearing different clothes.
  3. Compare the expected cost, not the headline. For a match bonus it is multiplier × (deposit + bonus) × house edge, and our bonus value calculator will do it on any terms you enter.
  4. Treat a large match as a warning, not a prize. Under edge-scaled rollover it is strictly worse than a small one.
  5. Remember that none of this is the likely outcome. Expected value assumes you finish the wagering. In our simulation of 1.3 million bonus claims, only 16.16% did.

Does playing low house edge games help clear a bonus faster?
It depends entirely on the operator, and at the two largest crypto casinos we checked, no. Shuffle publishes a formula that scales rollover progress by the game's house edge divided by 0.04, so a 1% game earns a quarter of the progress per dollar wagered — the expected cost comes out identical. BitStarz gets to the same result by weighting table and live games at 5%. The widely repeated advice to clear bonuses on low-edge games is a leftover from operators that did not weight this way.
Which crypto casino has the best bonus terms?
On the published terms, the operators with no deposit-match bonus have the best terms, because there is nothing to clear. Cloudbet's welcome package is 10% casino rakeback plus cash drops over 30 days with no rollover multiplier published, and Stake's is rakeback at 3.5% of the house edge. Neither locks a deposit. Both are worth less in headline terms than a 100% match — which is the point of the comparison.
How much does a 100% match bonus actually cost to clear?
Under Shuffle's published 35x formula, exactly 1.4 times your deposit plus bonus in expected losses: $280 on a $100 deposit, against a $100 bonus. Under BitStarz's 40x on deposit plus bonus, about $320 on 4%-edge slots. Both figures come from the operator's own stated multiplier and base — no simulation is needed to derive them.
Is a bigger bonus percentage better?
Under an edge-scaled rollover it is strictly worse. The expected cost is 1.4 × (deposit + bonus), so raising the match from 100% to 360% raises the bonus from $100 to $360 but raises the expected cost from $280 to $644. The expected value falls from −$180 to −$284. The headline number and the value move in opposite directions.
