Stake restricts numerous jurisdictions (including its main site for the US and UK). Online casino play may be illegal where you live — including for residents of Japan. Confirm local law before signing up.
Stake is one of the largest crypto-first casinos and sportsbooks, live since 2017 and operated by Medium Rare N.V. It built its reputation on provably fair in-house games and fast crypto cashouts rather than on flashy welcome offers. On-chain tracking puts Stake’s deposit volume at $22.1 billion a year (data reported April 2026) — the largest tracked crypto casino by a wide margin, holding roughly a third of the tracked market (the market-size data).
Licensing and trust
Stake operates under a Curaçao gaming licence, and we verify it against the regulator’s own register rather than the footer seal. The Curaçao Gaming Authority’s registry PDF (dated 8 September 2026, re-read the same day) lists operating entity Medium Rare N.V. under licence OGL/2024/1451/0918 with status “Assessment in progress” — the registry’s pattern for operators moving through Curaçao’s LOK transition toward a full licence, not a revocation; the entity does not appear in the CGA’s enforcement register. The dated register rows for every operator we cover are in our licence tracker.
A Curaçao licence is enough to run legally in many markets, but it is a lighter regime than the Malta Gaming Authority or the UK Gambling Commission — dispute resolution and player-protection requirements are weaker. Treat Stake as a high-liquidity crypto operator with a long track record, not as a regulated-market casino with statutory safeguards.
Where Stake is not available
We read stake.com’s own Terms of Service rather than a third-party list. Clause 14.3 (“Prohibited Jurisdictions”, read 8 September 2026) bars persons located in or resident in: Afghanistan, Argentina, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, the Cayman Islands, Colombia, Croatia, Cuba, Curaçao, the Czech Republic, Cyprus, the DR Congo, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Italy, Liberia, Libya, Lithuania, Malta, Mexico, the Netherlands, North Korea, Ontario, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, South Africa, South Sudan, Spain, Sudan, Syria, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States and Zimbabwe. Separately, stake.com answers HTTP 451 (unavailable for legal reasons) from Japan, which we probed the same day. Clause 14.4 makes VPN or proxy use to get around the list a breach of the agreement, so a blocked country is a hard no, not a workaround. The Brazilian “Stake” that takes Pix is Stake Brazil Ltda. on stake.bet.br, a separate SPA-licensed entity that these terms and this review do not cover. Readers in a prohibited country will find operators whose own terms accept them in our ranking.
Payments and payouts
Stake publishes no maximum withdrawal and no daily cap. What it has instead is a verification threshold it does not publish and calls discretionary, which is where every documented payout dispute has run. We set out the limits, the complaint record and the evidence gap in Stake withdrawal limits and the payout record.
Deposits and withdrawals are crypto-first: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, USDT/USDC, Dogecoin, XRP and more. There is no meaningful fixed minimum beyond network fees, and approved withdrawals usually settle within minutes. Fiat rails exist only in specific licensed markets, so for most users this is a crypto wallet-to-wallet experience.
Games
The library runs past 3,000 titles — slots from major studios, live dealer tables, and Stake’s own provably fair originals (Dice, Crash, Plinko, Mines, Limbo). The originals publish their house edge, which is the kind of transparency we like to see. The integrated sportsbook shares the same balance.
Bonuses
Stake’s VIP ladder is the whole reward system — there is no headline deposit match. The Stake VIP calculator converts your wagering into a tier and, more usefully, into the expected cost of reaching the next one after rakeback. Climbing from Gold to Platinum I means 150,000 more wagered: about $1,500 in expected cost at a 1% edge, against roughly $53 returned as rakeback.
Stake leans on ongoing rakeback, reloads and a VIP system rather than a big headline deposit match. Whatever the current offer, read the wagering requirement before opting in — the value is real only if the playthrough is realistic for your stake size.
Bottom line
A strong, liquid, transparent crypto casino with a genuine sportsbook attached. The main trade-off is regulatory: a Curaçao licence gives you fewer formal protections than a Tier-1 regulator. Play within limits you set in advance, and only where it is legal for you to do so.
FAQ
- Is Stake legit?
- Stake is one of the largest crypto casinos, running since 2017 under a Curaçao licence with a long track record and high liquidity. That licence is lighter than Tier-1 regulators, with weaker dispute resolution, so treat it as a high-liquidity crypto operator rather than a statutorily protected casino and verify the licence yourself.
- How fast are Stake withdrawals?
- Approved crypto withdrawals usually settle within minutes. There is no meaningful minimum beyond network fees, and limits are tier-based, rising for verified accounts. Verification is the usual reason a cashout is held.
- Can I use Stake from Japan?
- No. Stake restricts numerous jurisdictions, and online casino play is illegal for residents of Japan and can be prosecuted under Japanese gambling law. Confirm local law before signing up.
- What games and coins does Stake support?
- Stake runs 3,000-plus slots, live dealer tables, provably fair originals (Dice, Crash, Plinko, Mines, Limbo) and a full sportsbook on one wallet. It is crypto-first, accepting Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, USDT, USDC, Dogecoin and XRP among others.
