On 28 August 2026 AGLC said that products based on sports or entertainment outcomes are gaming that it regulates, backed the Canadian Securities Administrators’ notice on event contracts (Staff Notice 91-307), and told Albertans to use only the sites on AiGC’s list.

What this means for a player in Alberta

Since 13 July 2026 every operator offering online gambling to Albertans must be registered with AGLC and have a commercial agreement with AiGC. Kalshi has neither, and its sites (kalshi.com) are not on AiGC’s list. On an unlisted site none of Alberta’s player protections apply: no Centralized Self-Exclusion, no AGLC dispute process, and none of the province’s rules on fair games, data security or paying out.
